Founder

Dr. Luis Cabrales Arriaga is the founder of CarboNIL. His previous work in polymer materials inspired him to be part of the solution with plastic waste. He is currently the Founding Faculty of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at CSUMB and the Chair of the Department. He received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas in Mexico. He obtained a MS in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. with specialization in Fibers and Biopolymers from Texas Tech University. He has worked in research areas related to polymers from renewable resources, cellulose materials, textile surface modification, and water treatment technologies.
